A Humorous And Relatively Antagonistic Conversation With A Religious Nut (Part 3)

August 1st, 2010

The conversation concluded in the only way it could: my severing it. It became increasingly obvious that this participant was still unable to provide an reasonable evidence for the existence of a deity and would repeat his brainwashed mantras like a good little cult sheep. It also became very clear that he was thriving off of this exchange, like a parasite. I was fulfilling some drama in his otherwise pathetic existence. With as little as I thought of him, I didn’t feel the need to give him fodder to stroke his empty ego with. So, just as quickly as I decided he wasn’t worth the discourse, I cut the conversation and threatened to report him as a Facebook ToS violation. He replied (of course, attempting feebly to bait) and I’ve kept to my word.

Without further preface, here is the final part to this humorous conversation:

A Humorous And Relatively Antagonistic Conversation With A Religious Nut (Part 2)

July 28th, 2010

The conversation continued. Again, a separate, personal discussion pertaining to a third party has been stripped from this text and the nut’s last name has been removed. (Would you believe he works with Pre-K children? Disturbing!) Otherwise, the text is whole and unmolested.

A Humorous And Relatively Antagonistic Conversation With A Religious Nut (Part 1)

June 28th, 2010

I have marked my parts of the conversation in bold for easier reading. Last names have been extracted and an unrelated personal portion of the conversation has been stripped from the content (with respect to a third party), but the text is otherwise in original form. I still chuckle when I reread parts. However, as funny as this conversation is, it is also very sad. It is depressing to think that our educational system has failed so miserably that outright falsehoods like these are accepted as truth. It is simultaneously a tad unnerving that this level of brainwashing is so rampant. It is okay to feel a twinge of pity while you giggle.

Goin’ Down South

May 17th, 2010

Next weekend, I’ll be heading south to record with a friend [@PeterBolster]. I’m looking forward to it. The intended result is a raw, acoustic demo of dark, solid music with a mix of classical, blues, country and rock influences.

I like heading south. I have good memories and always a good time. This will be fun.

Parenting for the Samurai

April 28th, 2010

I enjoy reading Hagakure, The Book of the Samurai… “the hidden leaves.” I was pleased to come across this passage in a reading:

Free Write Exercise

April 25th, 2010

Budding leaves are appearing from this old maple tree’s branches. Another spring is moving in. The days are warming and the nights easing in their attrition. The cycle continues. My distorted human rationale tries to find some obscure, ethereal, hidden significance to this process, but it is all that it is. I know it requires no more than that; what it is, is more than enough.

The weeks flutter by faster than I can grab them, in some inane abstraction of immutable time. Am I retaining fewer moments? Am I wasting time? My insides scream to move forward.

I live in a world of delusional halfwits.

A Thought.

March 29th, 2010

It is raining outside. The air is warm. The wind is intermittently high. I am slow-moving today, though wide awake. I have to go to work soon. I feel there are some portions of my like that are stagnating, but I know there are more that are flowing freely. This must simply be momentum. My career is more clear than it has been in an age. My direction is distinct. I move forward and brush off the refuse. Good morning.

   I should write more.

A Brief Winter Night’s Moment – Stillness In Thought

March 12th, 2010

Gently falling,
Shavings of crystalline perfection
Blanket the world
In true, frozen purity.
What breath could be seen
Is taken and held
At the most perfect
Of sights.
From between cracks
Of dense, thick cloud,
Shafts of pale blue
Moon pour. Show me this white,
Beautiful desolation.
This season, wherein life is least,
Emanates the most beauty.

My mind holds still;
Thoughts mute before
Sacred winter majesty.
In the distance, a bell
Chimes the hour
Behind pillars of smoke.
In these still, silent
Moments of cold,
I am wholly at peace.

Roll #3 was developed today. There are a few I very much love. Please, taste them.

captured photons

February 2nd, 2010

I got my first pair of film cartridges developed from my initial tests with a classic Canon AE-1 Program 35mm film SLR. The results were fun. Ten shots in particular stood out for me. I am not fond of the film developer’s digital transfer, though. The noise grain in the darker regions are not on my prints, just the digital copies. Hit the jump for a peek.
