The year 1997 was a big one for me both personally and socially. I was deeply involved in music, writing, and the arts, and my personal life was winding up in a crescendo of self-discovery and debauchery. That was twenty years ago and I am writing a little bit about each album on their release dates.

Today, we look at Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Dimmu Borgir’s third album…

Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant

Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is the album with which I discovered Norwegian symphonic metal band Dimmu Borgir. From the opening salvo of Mourning Palace, through the of The Night Masquerade, to the epic wonder of Raabjørn Speiler Draugheimens Skodde, this album takes the listener on a fantastical journey through dark and wondrous landscapes.
