Best of 2011: Music

I usually tend to make predictions for the next year in technology when December rolls around. However, this year I will simply list the best of the year we are closing. To kick it off, the best music released in 2011!

Leviathan – True Traitor, True Whore (2011)

316605   Leviathan’s latest release, True Traitor, True Whore, is a raw, angry, and mostly spontaneous catharsis resulting from mastermind Wrest’s (tattoo artist and respected USBM musician Jef Whitehead) arrest on allegations he beat and raped his ex-girlfriend with his tattoo equipment; allegations Wrest adamantly denies, supported by his friends and peers (including Nachtmystium front man Blake Judd). Upon release from jail on $100,000 bond, Wrest wrote (most of) and recorded True Traitor, True Whore under the keen ear of producer Sanford Parker. What resulted was something truly black, truly cold, and seething with anger.

The atmosphere is exactly what I expected it to be, knowing of the inspiration. Wrest, as usual, has no trouble setting the tone and sending it straight into the core of your being. This album is a must-have for any fan of metal.
