The Ages Between Eternity

- Wednesday, March 18, 2009

I’ve been awfully poetic lately. Here is a bit I just finished possibly for a song.

The Ages Between Eternity

The stars have burnt out;
Supernovae all imploded.
Black holes roamed
And collected one another.
All that remains
Is a lightless void;
All that exists
Is darkness.

Before the spark,
Before the fire,
Before the blast,
Of creation’s spire,
All that was
All that will be
Is a lifeless void —
One point of gravity.

Existence compressed
To a singular point,
No light escapes
Nor one bit of matter.
All that remains
Is a lightless void;
All that exists
Is darkness.

Nothing is
To comprehend the time
That stretches between
Eternity’s vines.
All that was
All that will be
Is a lifeless void —
One point of gravity.

A time will come;
A point will be reached
Of crucial density
Causing the first breach.
The black hole will rupture
And spill forth its light.
The blast will come forth
With unknowable might.

But until this time,
We are trapped within
The ages between eternity.
